Volunteer Survey Analysis 2025: What Our Volunteers Told Us

At Sufra, we believe volunteering is more than just giving time — it’s about building a community where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered. That’s why we run an annual volunteer survey — to hear directly from the incredible people at the heart of our work.

This year, 62 of our volunteers shared their thoughts, experiences, and ideas — and the results are as inspiring as they are insightful.

Who Are Our Volunteers?

Sufra volunteers come from all walks of life — united by a shared passion for helping others.

Our team is proudly diverse, with 29% identifying as Asian/Asian British, and 28% as White, reflecting the vibrant communities we serve.

Volunteers are in all stages of life:

23% are seeking employment

21% are retired

6.6% are seeking asylum

Others are in education, employed, or caring for loved ones.

This diversity brings rich perspectives, skills, and heart to every aspect of our work.

How Our Volunteers Feel – The Good News

We asked volunteers how they feel about their experience at Sufra — and the responses were overwhelmingly positive.

When asked what volunteering has done for them:

88% said they feel better about themselves

87% feel more confident meeting new people

80% developed skills and confidence to work in a team

74% feel better connected to the local community

One volunteer put it simply:

“Volunteering at Sufra gave me purpose during a time I really needed it.”

We Asked. They Spoke. We Listened.

We also asked volunteers whether they felt their feedback from the previous survey had been acted upon — and the answer was clear: most volunteers felt heard.

That’s important, because change starts with listening — and we’re taking their input seriously.

What We’re Doing Next – Action in Progress

Thanks to volunteer feedback, we’re making changes to improve the experience for everyone:

These changes are part of a bigger commitment — to make volunteering at Sufra welcoming, empowering, and accessible for all.
