The Sufra 2030 Strategy: Building a Better Tomorrow

Guided by years of grassroots experience, Sufra is proud to launch our ambitious 2030 Strategy — a forward-looking plan designed to address the root causes of poverty, while supporting those in immediate need and creating fairer, more resilient communities.

2030 Strategy: A Summary

Sufra’s 2030 Strategy enables a flexible approach to our long-term development that allows us to be responsive to ever-changing local needs. It sets out eight Strategic Pillars, covering both service delivery and internal operations. It also presents a finance strategy that considers different scenarios for growth.

Service Delivery Pillars

Improving access to healthy food and other essentials

Sufra will evolve beyond the traditional food bank model, integrating food and emergency aid into broader programmes of advice and support, delivered in partnership across community-based settings to empower guests and foster lasting change.

Building social and financial resilience

Sufra will expand its advice and support services by increasing staff and training opportunities, offering accredited in-house immigration and debt advice, and empowering guests with practical financial skills through workshops and partnerships with trusted organisations.

Growing food with the community

Sufra will collaborate with the community and partners to manage and expand sustainable food growing projects, achieving recognised quality standards and increasing access to local growing spaces across the borough.

Engaging and empowering the community

Sufra will empower and engage the community through structured programmes, accredited volunteering opportunities, and collaborative steering groups that co-create and improve its services.

Changing the systems and policies that drive poverty

Sufra will actively influence policy and public awareness on poverty by leveraging its insights, empowering those with lived experience, and building a respected, engaged community that drives systemic change.

Internal Operations Pillars

People and Culture

Sufra will be a relationship-centred workplace with a dedicated HR function that trains staff and provides development opportunities.

Infrastructure, Systems and Processes

Sufra will have well-equipped workspaces, modern digital infrastructure, and more effective monitoring and evaluation systems to track and communicate impact.

Finance and Fundraising

Sufra will have an effective fundraising team alongside strong financial controls, and maintain an annual budgetary surplus to grow reserves in line with expenditure.
