St Raphael’s Edible Garden partners with HelloFresh

HelloFresh (of recipe box fame) and Social Farms & Gardens (a UK-wide charity) have selected St. Raphael’s Edible Garden to be a part of their new joint campaign, alongside gardens in Edinburgh, Sheffield and Birmingham. We are the only garden in London to have been selected.

The partnership is designed to encourage local communities to grow their own vegetables, reduce their carbon footprint and enjoy the benefits of being in nature.

Last July, St. Raphael’s Edible Garden featured in their campaign starring Farming and Gardening Advocate (and former member of JLS) JB Gill to encourage more sustainable kitchen habits in UK homes:

Did you know that the average household in the UK throws away enough food to feed five extra adults every week?

Thanks to the support of HelloFresh and Social Farms & Gardens, St. Raphael’s Edible Garden (162 Pitfield Way, NW10 0PW) runs a composting club on Tuesdays 10am-noon where we teach you about recycling your food waste by creating compost or replanting seeds.

Step 1: we give you a compost bag
Step 2: you fill up the bag with your food waste and bring it back our garden
Step 3: we put your food waste in our compost heap where we turn it into nutrient-rich soil
Step 4: the soil is used for growing new food for Sufra NW London’s Food Bank and Community Kitchen, and for our Garden Market which runs on Saturdays from 11am-2pm.
