From Syria, With Love
April 29, 2019
Please join us on the 18 May 2019 for a Special Ramadan Evening in Support of Refugees.
We will be screening the award-winning film After Spring, which depicts the lives of those living and working in Zaatari, Jordon – the world’s largest camp for Syrian refugees.
The documentary is a moving account of the lives of families forced to flee war-torn Syria. It’s also an inspiring film about the way people come together to form communities and networks of support – even in the most challenging situations.
Not only does this resonate with the amazing work our volunteers and supporters do for Sufra, but it’s the same camp that many of the refugee families we support lived in before they came to the UK.
After the film, we will hear from some of these refugee families as well as from professionals that help refugees experiencing crisis.
After sunset, a traditional Iftar* meal will be served for all to share with our refugee families. (*Iftar is the delicious meal that families eat when they break their fast during Ramadan)
Tickets are only £20 each and can be purchased here. All the money raised will go directly to support refugees and asylum seekers.
Bringing Children?
The film is entirely suitable for children but much of dialogue is in Arabic with English subtitles. We will be providing supervised children’s activities in a nearby room, so they are welcome to attend.
Child (5-17) tickets are £10 each
Children under 5 are free.
