CWS Open Day

Back in December 2024, in the lead up to a busy holiday season, the Sufra team were on the move. As our time at Bridge Park Leisure Centre came to an end, we packed up all our things and headed to the New Horizons Centre in Willesden to prepare for the launch of our new Community Wellbeing Service.

For those not in the loop, the Community Wellbeing Service originally launched as a pilot project in February 2023, as a local support hub from Bridge Park Leisure Centre to provide early intervention and holistic support to local families. As of January 2025, Sufra have partnered with Brent Council to expand the project into a full-time service, operating from the newly-renovated New Horizons Centre.

In anticipation of the service launch, we hosted a CWS Open Day for all of our volunteers, partners and local organisations to learn more about the service.

Attendees got a special tour of the new space and endulged in a lunch catered by Chef Jas, including salmon & cream cheese canapés, roast beef sandwiches on homemade foccacia, a cheese board and a burnt cheesecake.

More about the CWS

For just £4/week, service members have access to a range of support including a Community Shop, Community Café and Advice and Guidance through an extensive timetable of partners in the space. The service also hosts an evening Community Kitchen, where non-members can also come and enjoy a delicious meal, free and open to all.

Membership applications are now open, see here if you'd like to refer yourself or someone you're working with: Community Wellbeing Service

We also published a report evaluating our impact during the 18-month pilot of the new service, which supported 547 households. Members reported:

A sizable increase in their monthly disposable income.

Significant improvements in their Health and Wellbeing

Monthly savings of £1,056, which meant they could afford to buy more and better food. .

With your help, our plan this year is to build on this incredible work to ensure that our impact is even more positive for the guests we support.

How Can You Help?

Our move is just the beginning! As we settle into our new location, we’ll need your continued support to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing success. Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Donate: Help us outfit the new space with essential equipment, furniture, and supplies. Your donations directly contribute to enhancing the services we offer.
  2. Volunteer: As we grow, so does our need for volunteers. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or help with a special event, your time and talent make a world of difference.
  3. Spread the Word: Share the news of our new location with your friends, family, and social networks to help us reach more people in need.

Thank You!

We’re incredibly excited about this new chapter, and none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or are just learning about our work, your support makes all the difference. We can’t wait to continue working together to create a stronger, more compassionate community.
