Free pizzas, ukeleles and mocktail-making at St. Raph's

This summer we've taken advantage of whatever weather England had to give us and hosted 2 events at St. Raphael's Edible Garden: our annual Summer Garden Party and a new Family Fun Day.

While there was a crossover of activities between the two events (because we believe adults can have the same amount of fun doing kids-stuff), our Summer Garden Party was hoot for all the local residents to decompress and enjoy the sunshine.

  • The London Ukulele Project came down to perform ukulele covers of classic songs and teach us a thing or two!
  • Our ‘pay-as-you-feel’ Garden Market (usually Saturdays 11.00 – 13.00) was open for the community to help themselves to fresh, organic and local delicious produce.
  • We were serving an abundance of food, from the BBQ station with wings, sausages, slaws and sweet potatoes, to the pancake station with strawberries from the garden and nutella.(/li>
  • And offering henna tattoos and hand massages in our cosy and comfy yurt.

Meanwhile, the Family Fun Day had loads of children running about, as we squished our usual week-long holiday activities camp into one afternoon.

  • The children made their own pizzas in our pizza oven (queues were round the pergola!)
  • They created their own spice blends with herbs from the garden
  • And had a little campy arts and crafts session weaving patterns from wool.
