Our Food Academy for children and young people (aged 11-18 years) is back with a host of new recipes! The programme offers participants the opportunity to learn to prepare 10 exciting and healthy meals from scratch.

Saturday 4 November 2017 (10am to 2pm) – 6 Sessions every Saturday
Saturday 6 January 2018 (10am to 2pm) – 6 Sessions every Saturday
Saturday 24 February 2018 (10am to 2pm) – 6 Sessions every Saturday
Saturday 23 June 2018 (10am to 2pm) – 6 Sessions every Saturday
The six-session rolling programme takes place on Saturday mornings from 10am to 2pm with new starting dates every term.
Successful graduates of the Food Academy will receive AQA accreditation in cooking skills (which can also fulfil the skills component of the Duke of Edinburgh Award), as well as entry to our annual MasterChef Competition with the chance to win up to £250.
Children and young people who complete the Food Academy can choose from a package of incentives including Cineworld tickets, shopping vouchers and mobile phone top-ups. What’s more, the very best graduates who are aged 16+ years will receive a confirmed interview at a local restaurant for work experience or a part-time job.
We welcome ALL young people to join the Food Academy. We are particularly keen on supporting:
• Young people not in education, employment or training
• Young people about to leave care or who have left care
• Young people with a previous history of drug or alcohol misuse
• Young people with mental health problems
• Young people who are ex-offenders
